Outdoor PoE Dual-Band Access Point / CPE

The WAV-PATRIOT-DB can be used as a general-purpose outdoor access point and includes a range of additional modes enabling it to function as a high-performance WiFi client device. These capabilities allow the Patriot-DB to broadcast WiFi in areas outside where it needs to be strengthened, such as gardens, festival grounds, and campsites. It can also be used as a client to pick up public wireless services in areas like caravan parks and marinas.

Used as a WiFi Access Point, the Patriot-DB is capable of boosting an outdoor WiFi signal up to 100-150 metres, depending on how open the outdoor area is and if it has to deal with obstructions like trees and buildings. Because of the device's omni-directional nature, the WiFi it broadcasts is spread across a wide area in 360 degrees around it, perfect for use as a public access WiFi hotspot.

A pair of Patriot-DBs could be used to link to each other and connect 2 buildings together, albeit within the range limitations listed previously of about 100-150 metres.

The Patriot-DB has the capability to relay WiFi by simultaneously receiving a signal on the 2.4GHz band and broadcasting on the 5GHz band, or even vice-versa, effectively boosting the connectivity and speed on handheld client devices like smartphones and tablets from otherwise weak WiFi networks. We would, however, advise caution using the repeater functions in public spaces due to interference and bandwidth restriction issues.

Combining the Patriot-DB with the Teltonika RUT140 is a really useful way of connecting to a WiFi signal outside and bringing it in to share with other devices inside. Often you would use this system for your caravan, motorhome, narrow boat type of set-up, particularly useful if your building or unit has walls that block the WiFi coming inside directly.  The Patriot-DB is mounted outside, the RUT140 is set up inside, the RUT140 connects via WiFi to the Patriot and in turn redistributes the WiFi inside.
