Product Description

Satellite Finder Meter

Align your satellite dish precisely with our SATFIND.

Features:

  • Compact design with backlit meter scale.
  • Audible signal strength reading.
  • Adjustable level control and sensitivity adjustment.
  • Frequency range 950 - 2150MHz.

Technical Information:

1. Connect a cable from the LNB/LNBF to the TO LNB connection on the Satellite Finder.

2. Connect the cable from your satellite receiver to the TO REC input on the Satellite Finder.

3. Make sure your satellite receiver is on. The Satellite Finders scale should be lit at the time and the meter reading should be around 2.

4. Set your dish to the recommended azimuth and elevation settings. (This information should be supplied with your dish).

5. Set the Satellite Finders scale reading to around 5dB by adjusting the dB level control found on the face of the Satellite Finder. (Turning the dB level control anticlockwise will increase the reading).

6. Peak the signal by slowly moving the azimuth and elevation of your dish. If the Satellite Finders reading goes off scale, adjust the dB level control to reduce the reading to around 5. (Turning the dB level control counterclockwise will decrease the reading). Continue to move the dish until you have the highest possible meter reading.

7. Remove the cable and Satellite Finder, then connect the LNB/LNBF to your receiver.

Frequently Asked Questions

Satellite alignment.
Unlike TV aerials, a satellite dish requires extremely accurate alignment otherwise you will receive no signal at all.
On a satellite dish installation there are in fact three angles to be concerned with.

satellite dish alignment

1. The Azimuth: - Left to right horizontally (East to West)
2. The Elevation: - Up and down vertically.
3. The Skew (Of the LNB) is the rotation within its mounting.

Azimuth
As you move the dish horizontally east<>west you may come across many more satellites.
Please see below for a list of commonly used satellites. Note that if you are using a compass you will have to subtract 2-3 degrees to allow for magnetic variation within the UK.

Elevation
The vertical alignment of your dish will depend on your northerly location.
The elevation angle you obtained before and subtract the offset angle of the dish e.g. 20° this can vary from dish to dish. if your elevation angle of the satellite is 25° and the dish offset angle is 20° then you will need to point the dish 5° from the horizontal.
To give you an idea take your watch, and 1 o’clock to be about 30° therefore 1 minute is about 6 degrees.

Skew
As the dish is moved East or West to receive other Satellites the LNB will need to be Skewed (rotated), clockwise for West and counter clockwise for East.

An easy way to guide where to point your dish is to simply look at the neighbours.
Unfortunately, this can be very deceptive as the wall that the dish is on can be quite some degrees from your own, without it actually looking that way!
I better method is it use a phone app like Dishpointer that has augmented reality, you can actually see where the satellite is through your own phone camera or check out the Dishpointer website where you enter your own postcode.
Note:
When looking for the satellite you will need to move the dish very slowly left to right, up and down. It is very easy indeed to miss the satellite signal.
Never shadow the dish by standing Infront of it or butting your arm across it.
Always use a satellite alignment meter such as out .

Some satellite receivable within the UK include:

Astra 1 19E (lots of German/Austrian channels)
Astra 2 28E Sky and Freesat
Hot Bird 13E - Best variety with Italian channels, pan-European channels and a good selection of Arabic channels.
You can receive these satellites on a Sky dish within the UK.
This can mean that when aligning the satellite, you may misalign the dish on a satellite other that Sky (28East) in these cases your meter may show a strong signal but the Sky receiver will not display a picture.
Always Skew for best signal once you have aligned the dish to optimum signal.
Just because you have a signal in fine weather doesn’t necessarily mean you will maintain the signal in rain or snow, always align your dish using one of our satellite alignment meters here.

Hi service was good but i think you should have the brackets hot dip galvanised and charge a bit more for them because paint does not last very long these days other than that sturday bracket

There was an issue with delivery - the couriers lost my 10 foot mast pole! However, I cannot fault Blake in their attempts to put things right. They immediately sent out another pole as a replacement, which has just been received. Things in life can always go wrong. It is how a company responds to problems which show if they are a good company. Blake - you certainly showed that you are customer focussed. If I ever decide to put another weather station on the side of my house, you will be the first port of call for the needed equipment.

I ordered a 1 in 2 out Hdmi switch but it was out of stock and rather than getting me to wait until it was in stock Blake UK sent a more expensive 1 in 4 out Hdmi switch at no extra charge. It was also delivered very quickly. I would there rate Blake UK ver highly - hence the 5 stars.
