The proSAT1EYE Mk 2 is complemented by the PROception starLINK 'universal' wired remote control extender system. This is a re-emission type system for use where control of a wider range of equipment is desired. Please see the separate starLINK data sheet for full details of this alternative product range.
All Sky* Digiboxes and Sky+* PVRs are equipped with a second RF loop-through output, conveniently providing a signal feed for distribution to one or more remote viewing locations. This output also acts as a return-path input for remote control commands, giving the remote viewer full control of the satellite receiver or PVR. This RF return facility requires the infrared commands to be received in the extension room and converted to a modulated RF signal on approximately 7 MHz. These functions are carried out by the proSAT1EYE Mk2. The product consists of an infrared receiver head – the eye itself – and a coupler section. The coupler, usually located out-of-sight behind the TV contains the 7 MHz modulator and a diplexer for coupling the output into the TV signal cable.
The proSAT1EYE Mk2 is line-powered at 9 V DC from the Sky* set-top box or distribution amplifier and does not require a separate power supply unit. The coupler section incorporates an LED power indicator to give the installer a clear indication of whether or not power is being received over the coaxial cable.
For a simple system with only one extension room the proSAT1EYE Mk2 can be used alone, connected directly to RF OUT-2 on the Sky* Digibox or Sky+* PVR, which needs to be configured to provide the 9 V 'second outlet' power supply. The only additional hardware required is a coaxial cable link to the extension room.
Alternatively, multi-extension-room installations with up to eight or ten IR equipped rooms can be constructed using PROception proAMP-R return path amplifiers, the proMHD14R outdoor return path amplifier, or the starBOX home RF hub units.
