In April 1971 Blake Aerials was established by Ron Blake
in modest premises in central Sheffield, principally being involved in the
manufacture of TV aerials for local consumption. Over the following years,
as the business grew substantially, several relocations occurred. Blake Aerials
acquired Jaybeam Domestic in 1990 and Rydale Engineering in 1996 to enhance
the company's portfolio, as part of its strategy to move from being a local
manufacturer to becoming the dominant UK manufacturer/supplier to the TV aerial
and related industries. The company now operates from its own premises in
three adjacent industrial units, with a total floor area of some 40,000 sq.
ft. In 1998 Ron became Chairman and his son, Paul, was promoted to the position
of Managing Director. Remaining true to Ron’s original mantra that “the customer
is king”, Paul and his team of department heads continue to build on the reputation
and success of the existing business, whilst exploring new opportunities.
Blake’s list of satisfied customers now includes high profile retailers, national
installation companies and international companies.
